Tishina is a publishing house under the aegis of friendship and tranquility; there is much reading, and just as much drawing, often in silence.

Founded by two friends, Antoine Ullmann and Jonathan Bay, Tishina has published five illustrated novels in thirteen years, careful to remain a real publishing house.

These five novels were chosen from the bedside table of the two friends: they are their final works, those they reread countless times out of sheer enjoyment, and which, year after year, gave them such a sense of belonging that they wanted to pay homage to them by adorning them with images. Each book thus engages in a dialogue with an artist, chosen for their unique style.

Several tens of thousands of copies later, it can be said that the two friends are no longer the only ones who feel at home there.

Meanwhile, a spark ignited in Tishina's hearth. Its name is iskra. , and it was Jonathan Bay who made it grow by wanting to give a singular form to the novels he has written and those that are in the process of being written.

Why? Because he wanted to extend what he had discovered as so wonderfully pleasant in co-founding Tishina and which he had nurtured in working with artists: "bringing the bottom to the surface", as that good old Hugo said, giving a form to books, which makes people happy, and which can be carried everywhere, in the hollow of a pocket.

iskra. aims to bring together original fiction written by contemporary authors who have a sense and taste for imagery, following the rhythm of the writing seasons. In other words, there will be no announced or programmed five-year productions, just two or three books a year, picked at just the right time.

This house-workshop handcrafts books like those that were conceived in the days of pink and green books, when literature was not only white: designed to wander for a long time on the shelves, delightfully colored, to be half-opened on bedside tables, taken on the train, lent, offered without hesitation because we know that they will not intimidate, that we enter into them easily.

Books of substance and in top form, crafted for the pleasure they provide; books where one is not afraid to encounter real heroes and completely crazy destinies swallowed up in three and a half hours, where one can go from a crazy neo-western to an urban pirate novel, where the style has panache, humor and poetry, always; books where one can frolic in what literature allows to be most beautiful: the gravity of children's play.

iskra. is not the lost home of your childhood, nor the sepia photograph of our nostalgia.

It is a vibrant place where the joy of romance meets that of artistic creation.
